A few weeks ago, I came across quite the "Bruce Rarity" with finding the programme to Steven Berkoff's 1988 production of " Greek", where Bruce was a member of the cast, at the Wyndham's Theatre. You can read more about Berkoff's plays in the stage section of AGWLBP. This giggling girl was already in eternal research finding bliss when a second and even more fabulous find crossed my path. The programme to Berkoff's 1983 production of "West" was also found. Time magazine had given Bruce a grand review of his performance in "West". Quite a compliment indeed. I am very pleased to share these rare finds. I think the "heavy" Berkoff fans would be envious of such finds. If you happen to be such a fan please email me and I'll share the Berkoff wealth ;)

Bruce Payne (who plays Bruce) left RADA in 1982 and went to Nottingham Playhouse for a season. He appeared in "No Names - No Medals" in London. Since then he has appeared in Piaf at York and as Frank 'N' Furter in "The Rocky Horror Show" at Westcliff. Film work includes a leading role in "Privates on Parade", "The Keep" and "Birth of a Nation" to be seen on Central Television.

On leaving RADA in 1982, Bruce Payne approached two different roles, his first film "Privates on Parade" was followed by a major part in Berkoff's "West" at London's Donmar Warehouse. He went swiftly on to play a major role in David Leland's "Tales Out of School" and the role of Frank'n'Furter in "The Rocky Horror Show" on stage. In 1984 he played an undercover detective in the acclaimed Tyne Tees TV production "Operation Julie". Payne continued film work with the role of the arrogant "T.O." in the musical "Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire" and Flikker in "Absolute Beginners". 1986 saw Payne as Lawrence Macneice in the BBC movie premiere "Smart Money" and a major part in the BBC production of Agatha Christie's "Nemesis". The year ended with two more films "Oxford Blues" and the Mel Brooks production "Solarwarriors". In the Autumn of 1988 he can be seen in no less than three new feature films - "For Queen and Country, The Bell Run, and The Fruit Machine".
